Reclaiming Army Standards
A look at the declining standards for enlistment and retention.

Via Memeorandum.

Well, okay.

But the Army cannot lower the standards. Only COngress can do that.

The truth is that the standards have always been low enough to allow for this, but the Army hasn't needed to do so.

The only actual alteration of standards had been maximum age limits and it was Congress that did that.

The story simply never gets told this way, despite that its more a more accurate description.

There are a number of recruiter blogs that do a great job of describing why some of the specifics are also not quite what htey seem to be in teh reporting as well.
I am much less concerned with the 'quality' of the recruits than I am with what we do with them.

We still field the best damn Army - by far - than any other country in the world.
