David Hazinski, Fascist
Add another moron to the idiot pile.
Dear David: Take your monitoring and regulating and shove it up your arrogant ass. "Professor."
Geez, I wish I were in college again. So I could create a classroom spectacle with twits like this loser. For the benefit of the undergraduates.
That's because your vaunted 'professional class' didn't do their job in figuring out he was a plant. That fell to... wait for it, assclown ... citizen journalists!
Hey, bitchface. It already has. And you 'professionals' were responsible for it. Wow, those schools of journalism must be super awesome!
I have a swell idea, professor. How about you concentrate on policing your own before you have the gall to come after the people doing your job for you?

Supporters of "citizen journalism" argue it provides independent, accurate, reliable information that the traditional media don't provide. While it has its place, the reality is it really isn't journalism at all, and it opens up information flow to the strong probability of fraud and abuse. The news industry should find some way to monitor and regulate this new trend.

CNN's last YouTube Republican debate included a question from a retired general who is on Hillary Clinton's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender steering committee.

It's just a matter of time before something like a faked Rodney King beating video appears on the air somewhere.

• Major news organizations must create standards to substantiate citizen-contributed information and video, and ensure its accuracy and authenticity.

Comments:
As a news consumer, I don't see much difference between the two camps anymore, other than the fact the MSM's bias on some issues seems to be more apparent.
If I were a professional journo, I'd be as hostile and worried as this guy seems to be. MSM's reporting standards have dropped considerably in the last 25 years, with the majority of their budgets apparently going into PR and advertising, rather than the news departments.

This guy doesn't even make it hard.
"citizen surgeon"? How many years of school, of residency, of internship to doctors have to successfully complete before they're allowed to practice? Are they not licensed by the state? Do they not get sued to hell and back if they screw up?
Please direct me to the licensing agency for journalism. "You can't licesnse free speech!" OK, Mr. Journalism Professor: Stop railing at all the bright-eyed little mammals who are thriving while you and your saurian friends are threatened with extinction. Do a better job. Start policing yourselves better than an association of three-card monte dealers. Maybe - just maybe - you'll earn back some of the trust and credibility you've spent so freely in pursuit of your pet narratives and political favorites.
I wouldn't hold my breath.

Translation? I don't like the unrestricted, free flow of information that the Internet provides. Therefore I want it controlled and regulated so I can determine the direction the information goes. I also think the average American is a dumbass who is incapable of understanding "news" unless it's explained to him by someone intelligent - like me.
Yep. Just another Ph.D - piled higher and deeper.

"It's just a matter of time before something like a faked Rodney King beating video appears on the air somewhere."
The original Rodney King beating was faked as shown on TV - that is, the 'professional journalists' who put it on the tube redacted the portion that showed King himself as a thug and violent lawbreaker, so that public opinion would be bulldozed in their preferred direction. Yeah, the cops beat up an innocent BLACK man, for nothing. That was the lie the 'professional' journalists fed the unwashed.
