Off His Rocker
Juan Cole describes the fighting in Southern Lebanon as "The wholesale destruction of all of Lebanon by Israel and the Pentagon."

I've been watching CNN over the past couple of weeks. Why is it that Lebonese deaths are always counted as "civilians" but Israel deaths are counted as "Israelis"? Evidently there haven't been any civilian deaths in Israel.

Perhaps none of the Lebanese deaths are lawful combatants, i.e., "civilians.'

I'm with you, WW. I wish we could just get rid of the Jews, er, I mean Israelis, so that the Arabs and Persians and Falangists could get back to slaughtering each other and the occasional 280 westerners in peace.

May God have mercy on Israel's people if they DON'T do that.
And keep in mind, it won't be Israel that brought about Lebanon's destruction, it'll be Hezbollah. Hezbollah uses the entire country of Lebanon as the mother of all human shields. Hell, they even use UN peacekeepers, such that any attack on Hezbollah runs the risk of injuring or killing peacekeepers.
And they continue to fire rockets indiscriminantly into Israeli cities. Where is your outrage over that? What about the souls of Hezbollah?
One standard for 'excellence' is intellectual honesty, something that's rarely found in Juan Cole's columns. This one is no exception.
