"Aggressive strategy," Democrat-style
Tammy Duckworth is a disabled Iraq veteran and Democratic candidate running for Henry Hyde's seat in Congress. What's her platform?

"I think that we need to come up with an aggressive strategy, based on benchmarks of getting our troops out of Iraq."
No. An aggressive strategy would be based on benchmarks of kicking Al Qaeda out of Iraq.

You can dress a surrender monkey up in a pretty uniform. But surrender is surrender, and a purple heart and DD 214 on a surrender monkey is just a ring in the snout of a pig.

Splash, out

Comments:
How about an "aggressive strategy" for WINNING THE WAR? Withdrawing the troops before the war is won is the exact opposite of an aggressive strategy...

Sounds like Tammy is going to be another Max Cleland - and the Left will say, "how dare you chickenhawks criticize this disabled veteran"? Never mind that Tammy's opinions don't have a leg to stand on.

You mean, like Max Cleland? (HAR!)

(I am so going to Hell for that one!

First the smearing of Murtha, and now this. Clearly, conservatives only give a crap about soldiers who agree with their own views. Say goodbye to the moral high ground...

As long as we're paving the road to hell, it's going to be fun watching the media work around the phrase "TD today gave a _stump_ speech out on the campaign trail..."

'smearing of Murtha'

Politics ain't beanbag. For every GOP voter making amputee jokes, there's a Dem making Alzheimer jokes about Reagan.
Not that it's right.

"Duckworth was a helicopter pilot with a Peoria-based Illinois Army National Guard unit when her aircraft was shot down on Nov. 12, 2004. She lost both legs and suffered serious injury to her right arm and has spent much of the time since in surgeries and rehabilitation. She served with the 1st Battalion, 106th Aviation Regiment."

The PJstar story above says she was recruited by Durbin & R. Emmanuel. But I believe I've seen her say in a interview she wasn't 'pursued' to run.

Here it is:

Duckworth claims she and her husband made the decision to run back in August/September. “I know the speculation out there is that the DCCC reached out to me, and that’s not the case.” UPDATE 2: On the speculation that she was asked to run: “Nobody’s drafted me for anything I’ve done in my life.”

Contrast with:

"Duckworth was recruited for the congressional race by Durbin and Rep. Rahm Emanuel, D-Chicago, who heads the party's efforts to win more House seats."

very little comparison between the two. On the one hand, you've got a couple GOP supporters--who consistently claim that they're got the troops' back, and that nobody on the left does--attacking a double amputee who served in the war they so fervently desired. On the other, you had a couple Democrats making light of a President who answered scores of questions during the Iran/Contra trial with the phrase "I cannot recall." Big effin' difference.

Someone wrote: "Clearly, conservatives only give a crap about soldiers who agree with their own views."

False -- 'conservatives' dislike any and all who undermine the war effort, and hence, the United States.

When liberal politicians suggest we cut-and-run from Iraq, that's not a 'different view' that's a direct assault on the war effort, and our troops fighting and dying there.

Liberals pretend that if 'all the troops come home' then America's problems will simply vanish, and there won't be another 9-11, or worse.

Anyone who doesn't believe the Mideast must join the modern world, and instead should continue to pump out millions of zombies in madrassas and mosques, while these same regimes develop nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons, is a complete idiot.

President Clinton summarized things in 1998:

"In the next century, the community of nations may see more and more the very kind of threat Iraq poses now -- a rogue state with weapons of mass destruction ready to use them or provide them to terrorists, drug traffickers or organized criminals who travel the world among us unnoticed.

If we fail to respond today, Saddam and all those who would follow in his footsteps will be emboldened tomorrow by the knowledge that they can act with impunity, even in the face of a clear message from the United Nations Security Council and clear evidence of a weapons of mass destruction program."

Lieberman is the only sane Democrat, and he is scorned by his entire party.

"Liberals pretend that if 'all the troops come home' then America's problems will simply vanish, and there won't be another 9-11, or worse. "

Ah, the usual tired BS. Set up a straw man (uh, sure, that's exactly what liberals think) and link Iraq to 9/11. McCain is the only sane Republican, and he is scorned by his entire party.
