A Near-Total Media Failure
Hugh Hewitt, VodkaPundit, and a host of others are all over the mainstream media's failure to cover the fact that the Kerry campaign has been caught in a series of baldfaced lies dating back years.
The fact that Kerry was lying about being in Cambodia is confirmed by every living member of his chain of command, plus at least one member of his own swiftboat crew.
To make matters worse, the Kerry campaign tried to assert that Kerry never said he was IN Cambodia. They said Kerry said he was NEAR Cambodia. Glenn Reynolds photographed the congressional record and put that lie to rest. The campaign retracted and said they would "clarify."
No clarification has been issued yet. Not by the Kerry campaign.
But no such "clarification" is necessary. I've got a clarification of my own:
Kerry lied.
Fox News has it. The bloggers have it. The story's been out at least since Monday. It's checking out all over the place. It's been confirmed and confirmed again and again.
The UK Telegraph picked it up 11 minutes ago.
Ooops...they just put up another story, headlined "Kerry Invented Christmas in Cambodia Claim."
Ouch.
The New York Times? AWOL.
USA Today? AWOL.
Boston Globe? AWOL.
Washington Post? AWOL.
CNN? AWOL.
Reuters? AWOL.
Associated Press? AWOL.
Los Angeles Times? AWOL.
Our nation's premier news outlets are being shamed by the Fort Wayne News Sentinel.
It's a miserable media failure.
Funny how all the media failures break the same way.
If every member of Bush's chain of command, including those on his crew, came forward now and testified that Bush was never in Alabama, and never served, because they were with him when he never served, you think it would get some play?
How about if 200-odd members of the Texas Air National Guard came forward and said "We knew George Bush, we served with him, he is not fit for command."
Think that would get some play?
Then where are the biggies on this one?
Where are those who claim to "speak truth to power?"
It's pathetic.
Well, now that the Telegraph has broken the omerta, our own majors will have to acknowledge the issue.
But they'll have to be dragged by their hair, kicking and screaming, until they're forced to cover the story, the same way you force a dog to acknowledge its own crap on the rug.

But seriously, your interest in politics is fantastic - I am glad to see that Americans are still participating in the election process.
Since you have taken so much time to point out John Kerry's lies and sore points for you - and defend bush's military record in the national guard and cocaine and alcohol addictions - can I now take a few moments to sum you up. You are clearly incredibly wealthy, judging from your elegant linguistical skills, you must have been - like Bush - born in Connecticut. It's true look it up, our Texas President is really a snobby yanky. Ask any Texan and they will tell you that there is a difference between someone born in Texas and someone who just moved there.

There is a good reason not to vote for President Bush - that is why you are so passionate - because following that part of you that thinks that bush is a horrible, evil, savage who has stolen the American presidency, both literally and metaphorically, would mean being logical - which, I know a man with all your wealth - who really saw big changes from the Bush tax cut besides $200 or $400 dollars once - will have a hard top without the president in power - but I want you to think about all those people out there who make less than $100,000 dollars a year, who are getting screwed by Bush's unsound, ludicris fiscial policies slanted toward the extremely wealthy, while telling you it creates jobs - but no knew companies are craming onto the Fortune 500. In fact, besides your personal corporation sir - how much do you think your worth now - are your stocks doing well. Can you afford to think of me. A recent college graduate, living in the city with a job is the journalism field who will see the third round of layoffs in 6 months. Please sir - where is your human dignity for the common man?
Don't think for a moment I doubts Ws religious fervrent in all this. I understand that the man is on a mission to - like Ronald Reagan - host the end of the world on his watch. I am sure that George W. Bush is a liar, and a cheat - really, just a horrible man, but I still love him. His guidance had kept us on course after the terror attacks that happened in Washinton D.C. and New York. I think I will always love President Bush for his leadership in those times - as I hope all American citizens will.
Despite all this though I just can't cast my ballot for President Bush because he has lied and I can prove it. I have a tape of President Bush - and here is the transcript

Nebraska's Bereuter calls war 'a mistake'

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Breaking ranks with his party and reversing his earlier stance, a senior Republican lawmaker who is retiring said Wednesday the military strike against Iraq was "a mistake," and he blasted a "massive failure" of intelligence before the war.
The unexpected four-page statement came from Rep. Doug Bereuter of Nebraska, who until earlier this month was vice chairman of the House Intelligence Committee -- a panel that reviewed much of the evidence the Bush administration cited before going to war.
"I've reached the conclusion, retrospectively, now that the inadequate intelligence and faulty conclusions are being revealed, that all things being considered, it was a mistake to launch that military action, especially without a broad and engaged international coalition," Bereuter wrote in a four-page letter to his constituents.
"The cost in casualties is already large and growing, and the immediate and long-term financial costs are incredible."
Bereuter was particularly critical of the prewar intelligence, which described an arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. But no such weapons have been found since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003.
Bereuter voted in support of an October 2002 resolution authorizing the use of force in Iraq, but he said that vote was based on what he had been told about the weapons threat from Iraq.
"Left unresolved for now is whether intelligence was intentionally misconstrued to justify military action," Bereuter said.
After 26 years on Capitol Hill, Bereuter is retiring next month, and he will become the president of Asia Foundation.
Congressional Republicans appeared surprised and angry at Bereuter's comments.
Rep. Ray LaHood, R-Illinois, a member of the intelligence panel, described Bereuter as "very bitter" for having been passed over in recent years to head the intelligence and international relations committees. He suggested Bereuter's comments were a parting shot to House GOP leaders and President Bush.
An aide denied Bereuter was motivated to write the letter because he didn't get the appointments.
Rep. James Gibbons, R-Nevada, who is also on the intelligence panel, said Bereuter's new conclusions are wrong.
"The facts don't change. Iraq was a dangerous place," Gibbons said. "Mr. Bereuter is entitled to his opinion."
Bush officials tried to downplay the congressman's statement.
"He is not an opinion maker or someone who has taken a leadership role. I don't think you can take this as a sign his comments are a barometer of other Republican thinking," one Bush political aide said.
Bereuter's critique of the administration on Iraq was sharp.
He said the administration was wrong to disband the Iraqi army -- because so many of its members joined forces with the insurgents -- and was wrong to rely on the Defense Department instead of the State Department to spearhead reconstruction and the interim government.
He also said the administration was wrong to ignore military leaders who warned many more troops would be needed in Iraq to maintain the postwar peace.
"Now we are immersed in a dangerous, costly mess and there is no easy and quick way to end our responsibilities in Iraq without creating bigger future problems in the region and, in general, in the Muslim world," Bereuter said.
Bereuter said it was important for the executive and legislative branches of government to learn from the "errors and failures" relating to the war in Iraq and its aftermath.
Some Democrats see Beureter's comments as a political plus in part because he argued the president should have gone to war in Iraq with a broader international coalition, as Sen. John Kerry, the Democratic presidential nominee, has said.
But Bush aides pointed out a key difference between the two that could benefit the president politically: Kerry, answering a direct challenge from Bush, said recently he does not regret voting to authorize war.
Bush officials said they are in constant contact with congressional Republicans. They said they want to to keep these lawmakers engaged in the president's campaign, and behind his argument that even knowing what he knows now, war in Iraq was the right thing to do.

Bush, either not caring that the window was closed, or believing his newly announced alignment with God, would allow him to pass through the 8 inch bullet proof glass of the presidential limousine unharmed, collided, face first, with the car door, which knocked the President to the ground. The President of the United States of America lay in an unmoving, lifeless heap, as Secret Service guards rushed to pick up the Presidents body and whisk him into the car. Once President Bush was safely inside the car rushed from the scene.
Press Corp members pressed White House Press Secretary Scott Mcclellan for details on the Apocoloypse and the President's condition, Mcclellan responded, " The President is a very religious man, he was not referring to any specific information from the CIA or FBI regarding future terrorist attacks. All I can say is WOW Blogger. The other half and I just got back from our friends house (well her friends house) and I needed a huge break.
