Compare & Contrast
The Washington Post smells some recruiting problems downrange:

The Army's pool of future recruits has dwindled to its lowest level in three years, worrying Pentagon officials as the service is being stretched by the unexpectedly difficult occupation of Iraq.

Contrast that with this rosy report from Army News Service:--

The active Army is at 100 percent mission accomplished of its retention goal for the third quarter.

In addition, said Brig. Gen. Sean Byrne, chief of Military Policy, G1, said, in a media round table Friday, all 10 divisions are at or above 100- percent retention. He also said the aggregate number for the Army is 100 percent.

(Does this sound like Saddam Hussein's reelection numbers to you?)

My baloney detectors are singing these days.

Splash, out

(Nice catch from Drudge)
