Credit where due (UPDATE: Link fixed)
I've been bashing the NY Times quite a bit. But there are some things even the Times can't buy into.

Jim Dwyer's tongue-in-cheek, deadpan, devastating treatment of moonbattery over whether the US government planted explosives in the World Trade Center is a masterpiece of expository writing.

All the more so because it's ostensibly even-handed.

Splash, out

Jason,

You linked to something else...

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/09/02/nyregion/02conspiracy.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

This should be the link I think.

Jason, I was just curious if you could suggest an alternate way Omar something like this could be handled.

Wow. Sometimes it's cruel to be evenhanded. My favorite part was this:

:The federal investigators at the National Institute of Standards and Technology state that enormous quantities of thermite would have to be applied to the structural columns to damage them. Not so, said Professor Jones; he said he and others were investigating 'superthermite.'"

My guess is that "superthermite" will be defined as "a new and secret formulation of thermite powerful enough to collapse a 100+story skyscraper, in quantities so small as to leave no forensic evidence at all." As a chemist I can't wait to hear what goes into it.

'Sgotta be fun, being a conspiracy theorist. You're so smart as to see what all those dullards out there don't, plus you're brave enough to face the ridicule that the sheep (jealous) and the authorities (vengeful) heap on you, for, you know: Telling the truth!

An Israeli instant messaging company warned its clients about the WTC attacks two hours before the occurred. Not that it matters.

Would I be wasting my time to ask whether you have the tiniest shred of evidence for that assertion, anonymous?

Sorry, I got a detail wrong. Two employees of Odigo, an Israeli instant-messaging company with offices near the WTC, got the
two-hour warning

Oh, and the mayor of San Francisco cancelled his trip to New York the night before the attacks after getting a call from "my security person" (his words) advising him not to go.

Not that anyone cares. There's a coverup to promote.
