Geez...
What in the world is the Polk County Sherriff's Department doing hiring 14-year-old girls as deputies?

And why are they cruising for guys on the Internet at work? That's what I want to know. I get the feeling there's two sides to this story.

Hmmmmm.

Comments:
The vast underground cesspool of the internet.

There's a novel by Anthony Powell, where he remarks something to the effect that's there's no telling about people's sex life (and this was in the 1950's).

Nothing has changed much, I think. People just get caught easier now.

Send him to Gitmo. He'll fit right in with the terrorists.

deputy POSING as a 14 year old

Youthfull transcopgendered?

Let's say this guy is the pervert he's made out to be and a threat to children.

Isn't there SOME way to deal with him other than prosecuting him for THINKING (and hoping) he was going to have sex with a 14 year old?

I've seen a lot of 14 year olds lately that I would like to have sex with. They look even better now than when I was 14 years old.

Don't get me wrong...I'd like to have your money, but I wouldn't steal it from you any more than I'd have sex with a kid.

The point is, should this guy be prosecuted simply because his intended "victim" convinced him that she was underage?

Despite the fact that a pervert might commit an illegal act if given a chance, this is nothing more than a Thought Crime.

Well, sorry ... I can't say that I've seen any 14 year olds lately that ring that bell for me.

Of course, once you've transmitted pornography to someone you know to be under age, it's no longer simply a "thought crime."

And the alternative would be - what? Wait until a child is actually physically sexually involved prior to law enforcement getting involved?

I don't think so.

He knows the rules - and everyone else does, too.
