Military Cluelessness at the AP
Powerline readers are pointing out that the AP's Calvin Woodward went to cover a Bush speech AT the Naval Academy, and doesn't know what a midshipman is.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051130/ap_on_go_pr_wh/us_iraq_fact_check_1;_ylt=AlBmYV0zbDaER1sFnXS1mz1qP0AC;_ylu=X3oDMTBiMW04NW9mBHNlYwMlJVRPUCUl

Woodward amusingly refers to them as "cadets." A hanging offense around Annapolis. And a great example of how ignorant our military beat reporters often are regarding even the most basic things about the military.

Amazing.

If they got THAT wrong, then what ELSE are they getting wrong?

(Well at the AP today, quite a bit!)

Obviously, there's no one in the AP newsroom who looked at this piece who has any military experience. But I'm sure the AP is committed to newsroom diversity.

Splash, out

You're asking the wrong question. The shorter answer is asking what the AP got right.
